Out of all the clothes I made in 2009, this BWOF tunic ended up being my favorite. I wore it a ton during the warmer months and always got lots of compliments on it.Hi there! My apologies for the break from blogging. Things have been hectic lately and I haven't had time to do any fashion sewing or much else. As you know, I've also been in the middle of college applications and lordy, what a lot of stress and agita there is around that whole process. But Annie just got her first college acceptance yesterday to one of the schools she really likes, so we're all breathing a little easier here.
Yes, another year is closing in on us, and I've been reflecting on all the clothes I've made in 2009. My success rate improved this year, as did my sewing skills, so it was tough to pick a favorite piece. But I really loved this silky tunic (above) I made from Burda 03/09; the fit is perfect and I love how it looks with white jeans.
What was your favorite piece of clothing you made in 2009? Let us know! Using the MckLinky widget, I'm starting a list where you, dear readers and fellow sewing bloggers, can link to your actual blog post that features your favorite piece of 2009. Here's what you need to do:
• Be sure you link the permalink of your actual blog post. For example, it will be something like http://www.lindsaytsews.com/2009/04/finished-bwof-0309-drawstring-tunic.htmlwww.LindsayTSews.com
instead of www.LindsayTSews.com.
• When MckLinky asks you to enter a title for your blog post, please use this format: Your Name: Pattern Maker, Type of Garment. For example: Lindsay T: BWOF Tunic.
That's it! Feel free to link to this post so others can see it and we can build a central repository of our Favorites of 2009. The list is open for adding links from now until 12/31/09. If you don't have a blog, please leave a comment telling us about the piece you made that you liked best and why. Enjoy your weekend and I'll be back soon!

Just to add, my coat was very much inspired by your Chanel-Style coat, that I loved.
Think I'll have to ponder this some more...
Your tunic is beautiful and flattering. Did you choose it because you've worn it the most? I have several I've worn a lot, and one I haven't even removed the basting threads from (the Dior coat) but it's done... Well, I have a few more days :))
Lindsy I have two entries, the link didn't come up on #3, if you can, you might want to delete it :) Thank you.
This is a neat idea :)
What a fun idea! Thanks for letting us share our creations! It was tough to choose just one, but I went with the single item I wear the most.
I need to think about this one! I will get back to you on it!!
I do love your tunic.
What a great idea! I just entered my link. It's gonna be quite some list, a lovely trip down memory-lane full of beautiful, loved clothes. Great way to end the sewing-year 2009. Thanks for sharing this with us.
I like the McLinky thing - tres kewl! Can't wait to see all the favorites!
Good idea Lindsay! Unfortunately I have nothing to add...sob...not a good year for sewing. But at least I can catch up on those I have missed during the year.
God what a tough choice! I made way too many things this year that I'm totally in love with! This was definitely the year of quality over quantity for me...
I can't figure out how to do the MckLinky thing. But I picked Vogue 8581. Not a good sewing year for me.
I love your Burda tunic. I made the same pattern (my first Burda, by the way) and I love it and I love the fit but......I cannot get the sleeve cap to please me so I have not worn it very much. Even tho it is the favorite thing I made this year.
No, I take that back. I made a bright orange blouse with small darts in the front and one on each side in the back. Fits good and the sleeves are great!
I think I will try that Burda again in a lighter weight fabric.
Oops, I forgot to put Grace on Unsuitable for plaids or stripes.
Well I can't decide! I scanned through my blog and rediscovered lots of patterns and fabric that I wrote about and still haven't used though...
I'm a long-time lurker coming out of hiding to thank you for this very fun post. It's inspiring to see everyone's favorites from the past year. I absolutely love your tunic. And I share your anxiety over the college admissions process. We're on pins and needles this weekend waiting to hear about my daughter's early decision application next week.

What a fun neat idea!
I love your BWOF tunic - you look great in. However, your choice must have been quite difficult because you have made so many lovely things in 2009 (I particularly love your beautiful blue coat). I like the MckLinky idea and have added my own favorite to the list - many thanks!
Fun idea! It was a tough call for me, because I don't feel that I had a very successful sewing year overall. But I do have to say that even though I posted a skirt as my favorite project (it fits so well and I love the fabric), I made that same BWOF blouse and it was a very close second.
Looking back on this year I'm like a mom that can't choose her favorite child! It has been a good year for me. I have a few mehs, a few I like but don't wear much, but mostly everything I have loved and wear as often as I can get away with it. I'll think about it and see if I can decide.
Congratulations to Annie!
Very cool idea! I just added mine. :)
What a fabulous idea for a post. Thanks for sending me down memory lane...
Thank you for this fabulous idea
Great linky list! And it was fun to see everyone's fave. I had trouble picking just one. I ended up going with the one I lovingly pat when I open the closet, and that I have plans to make several more of!
Argh, created a McLinky account and
Didn't realize the links expired last night.... but here is mine to my favorite of 2009

I love this tunic and I repurposed one of my mothers dresses (chartreuse linen), I wore it for New Year's eve. Lindsay, I found your site googling Chanel because I'll be making a jacket this year.
Keep up the blogging.

I love your creativity and photography. Your Chanel Shoe photo is great! So are the shoes.
