Santa brought me a pair of Chanel ballet flats! If you've read this blog for any length of time, you know I have coveted this pair of shoes for sooooo long. They are actually very comfortable, which is good since I will be living in them. (According to StatCounter, which monitor's my blog's traffic, "Chanel ballet flats" is the number one search term that lands people on my blog. Seriously.) Do your pets climb in your suitcase when they know you're going on a trip? Here's Ralph looking pathetic and trying to convince me to take him with me to Maine. But there are already enough dogs at my sister Mel's house, so he and my other dog stayed home with the dogsitter.
On Monday, back from Maine, the whole family trekked into the city. Bob and David shopped at Midtown Comics while Annie and I picked out trim at M&J Trims for her strapless red satin dress. She really wanted black trim around the waist. Here are some of the trims we tried with her dress, which we brought with us; I'm happy to report we found the perfect black beaded trim for the dress. (Which, by the way, has to be finished by January 8; I still need to make and install the lining and put in the hand-picked zipper.)
After Midtown and M&J we met up at Bryant Park. Did you know you can ice skate there for free?! During the holidays there are also all sorts of trendy little boutiques at Bryant Park to find nifty gifts, like the cool bracelets made out of recycled magazines that Annie bought for her friend.
Then we strolled up to Rockefeller Center to see the tree. You would think after working there for several years that I would remember how mobbed this area is with people during the holidays, and on Monday the crowds were probably at their peak. Ick! We caught a taxi back to Penn Station and headed home where it's just us four (plus two dogs).
Happy New Year, dear readers, and best wishes for a prosperous 2010! I'll be back soon with tales of the Red Dress.

Chanel shoes . . . you MUST have been a VERY GOOD girl this year! Sounds like you're having a wonderful holiday!
As my friend Joanne of Ms. Muslin told me, good thing I got these shoes before I have to make that first college tuition payment!
Wow! I'd love to have a pair of shoes like that one day. I'm sure they'll be worth the purchase! I'm tempted to put "Chanel Ballet Flats" somewhere in my blog to get more traffic- LOL!
Someday my daughter and I will go to NYC... looks like such a fun place. You're so lucky to be able to go all the time!
Ooooh, I love those shoes! See? Good things really do come to those who wait. :-) My cat Winnie Pooh always gets into my suitcase or overnight bag as if to say 'please don't leave me with those other cats!'.
Sigh, New York in the wintertime. What could be better?
Lovely shoes! I hope you enjoy them a lot.
Wow the real McCoy! You are so lucky. I have an old pair of knock off Chanel shoes from Talbots that are about 10 years old. I would like the real thing though. Where did Santa buy yours? Do Saks and neiman Marcus sell them? I know I could go to the Chanel Boutique. Your dog looks so cute in the suitcase! Happy New Year. Can't wait to see the red dress.
LindsayT,
I know you were a good girl this year so you enjoy those beautiful hand made, Italian leather babies. I heard you were not as good the previous years,so that is why you had to wait this long.
Now,I also heard you have some boucle marinating in your stash and I know just the BWOF jacket that would compliment these investment shoes....
.... (evil laugh).....
Beautiful shoes, Santa must really have been impressed with you this year :)
Happy New Year!
Great shoes! My sister ice skates at Bryant Park :) .
Maggie, Santa got my shoes from Saks. If you go on the Chanel store locater (http://www.chanel.com/nav/html/direct_page.php?page=locator&zone_lang=USAEN) you can search for places to buy these shoes near you.
Polish them before you wear them and keep an eye on the heels and soles and you'll have these for many years to come. In fact if you amortize the price by number of wearings I bet them come out cheaper than cheap shoes per wearing.
Enjoy them and you have a very nice Santa in your house!
Congrats on getting the much coveted Chanel flats! Happy New Year!!!
I'm totally green with envy! I want to be you when I grow up! Chanel ballet flats are on my list of "Must Haves".
Wow, you were a good girl this year!
We had a dog that would fake limp every time we got the suitcases out. He quit after we caught on to his ploy.
I can't wait to see (the other) Annie's dress either.
Annie
Today I went shopping with my DD's and we popped into Chanel...and ballet flats were $950 Aussie..ick! We also checked out the quilted jackets..and they were $6,000 plus....more ick! Enjoy the shoes and I hope they bring lots of good luck for 2010 :)
I had no doubt whatsoever that Santa would treat you well this year! Just look at a what a great sewing friend you've been to all of us, keeping us in the know... not to mention your much more important duties as wife and mother, which you are even more amazing at. Eagerly anticipating the completion (and photos) of the little red dress!!!
Oohh...Chanel Ballet Flats. My eyes are glazing over with envy of your new shoes. Congrats.
hooray for new shoes!
have you tried the "me too" brand ballet flats? i swear they are the comfiest ever. :-) I've found a bunch on sale at DSW stores, or zappos carries them. awesomely padded soles. :)
happy new year!
Eeeee! Those shoes are so awesome! I agree with a previous commenter - watch the heel and toe wear and you should have those gals for many years. Enjoy!
I LOVE those shoes!!!
Happy New Year!!
I shop at a little store in Rochester, MI called Sole Sisters and they have a sign in there that is a "quote" from Cinderella-- "one shoe makes all the difference" ( or something close to that) I am sure you feel like Cinderella!
Lindsay-- Love the flats! very lucky gal. Enjoy and Happy New Year. Can't wait to see the red dress!
Very nice shoes! I wish I could wear flats, but I can't. They make my back ache and I walk funny. I'm sure you'll enjoy them for many years. Wishing you a safe and happy new year.
Wow, real Chanel ballet flats!!!! You're going to have so much fun wearing them.
Thanks for the info on the shoes!
Wonderful shoes :)
Happy New Year!
Fab shoes! And Happy new Year to you!!
Okay - Those FAB Chanels don't happen to be a size 8, do they!!??????? You have a VERY generous Santa!!! Bravo! HAPPY NEW YEAR, Meg!!! Hope to see you in 2010!
I have a pair of Ferragamo knock-offs (although at that price it didn't seem like a knock-off) from a couple of years ago, and they are my "go to" shoe...when nothing else works, these shoes work! You will adore them! They go with everything.
Happy New Year Lindsay T! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I can't wait to see what you make next. A dress perhaps? (I saw your comment on Carolyn's post). ;)
You lucky girl! Holy Moly, what I wouldn't do for a pair of those. I'll settle for Tory Burch right now and aspire to Chanel. :)
gorgeous flat, I know that made your day extra special
Oh my! Those Chanel flats are lovely! They look like the kind of shoe I'd like to wear these days as my body has "forced" me into wearing flats, LOL! Very nice! Santa was very good to you!
Special gift! Awesome shoes, enjoy them a lot.
Happy New Year to you Lindsay.
Congrats on those beautiful flats! And yes, my cat always gets in my suitcase when I'm packing!
Oh, happy holidays indeed! The shoes are lovely and envy-inducing! Wear them in good health in 2010!
I just love the way you describe the Garment District and the activities that are nearby. I am hoping to make the pilgrimage there from Atlanta sometime this summer. Congrats on your new Chanel flats!
Sounds like you're having a wonderful holiday!
