I still need to hand-stitch the lining at the sleeve hem and the jacket hem, and I need to stitch the chain across jacket hem, but c'est tout. We had a day of warm, spring-like weather here in the metro NYC area and I wanted to photograph my faux-Chanel jacket outside while the light cooperated. More details, and hopefully a photo of me wearing it, to come later this week....

Oh my word! It is lovely! Not too "black" but has a a great contrasting thread through the fabric. The tapering is perfect and the trim was meant to be! I love how you can wear this all year round and dress it up with a skirt or with nice pants or with a great pair of jeans and flats. I think this new jacket needs a friend-a pair of Chanel ballet flats!
Me again. Okay. I clicked on the picture of your jacket and lo and behold-magnification.(Not too sharp here on a Sunday night). What is the trim that edges the trim on the jacket and pocket edges? It almost looks like a fine cording.....but I could be wrong. Anyway-it looks even better close up! Wonderful work Lindsay! You must be thrilled. Looking forward to your "after the jacket" discourse!
OOOHHH! I like it!
Oh, beautiful.
Joanne, I promise I'll post a close-up photo of the trim this week. The trim is actually two trims I combined--cream chenille braid and black fringy trim.
Oh yes! I love it.
Love your jacket and can't wait to see a picture of you wearing it. And I love your blog! I have been sewing for years but am new to the world of blogging and have so enjoyed connecting with others who share the passion. In January I finished my French jacket and it is posted on my blog if you want to check it out.
Fab. You. Luss!!!!!
Beautiful!!! I mean it! It is gorgeous! Wear it A LOT! You deserve it!
Wait! Stitch what chain onto the hem?
Seriously, that is one sharp jacket.

This looks great. Just the right trim for this. I am not real happy with my version of this jacket. I hope to get mine finished soon.
As soon as the photo popped up, my first thought was it's absolutely beautiful!!! Really perfect--how about *better* than Chanel :) ! Rock it, girl, and wear it well. You'll be turning quite a few heads.
Gorgeous, what a great shade of black and the trim it perfect.
Love it. The texture of the black in that trim is a nice constast to the white part of the trim.
Man, this is going to be something else!
It's looking fabulous Makes me want to get out that Oscar delaRenta black fabric from stash and make myself another. Would you go trim shopping for me in NYC? :)
