Chanel Alert!

Behind The Seams: The Shaeffer Collection Volume One: CHANEL

Once I wrote on this blog that my stripper name* would be Charmeuse Bouclé. Let me amend that to Chanel Charmeuse Bouclé. I'd be one classy ecdysiast, wouldn't I? (Ann, that SAT word is for your benefit.)

At any rate, a little random trolling around on the Internet turned up the news that David Coffin is close to releasing a CD-based album "exploring Claire Shaeffer's wonderful collection of Chanel garments, inside and out." He's posted a PDF preview on his blog, My Virtual Workshop, and you can tell this is going to be a fabulous compilation.

"I doubt there's ever been such an extensive collection of full-garment and close-up, full-color photos—over 730 images—detailing the work and influence of a single designer, so readily available; all thanks to the wonders of the pdf format."
—David Coffin

David writes that Behind The Seams: The Shaeffer Collection Volume One: CHANEL will be available, soon, in CD-ROM format for $40, plus shipping. If it's anything like this preview, I'll be submitting my order. David, if you're reading this you have an open invitation to write a guest blogger entry here about this collection.

*My "real" stripper name, if you play the first pet's name + first street you lived on game, is Pookie Parkside.

BTW, I love HL Mencken. I read excerpts of his coverage of the Scopes trial in college!

Sounds awesome! With your tute on stripper names, I figured out I would be Mother Lakeview! You know the crunchy, earthy type of stripper!

Hmmm...You're making a case to get working on a Chanel jacket this year :) !

Inside a Chanel jacket without a saleslady hovering over me, the anticipation is killing me. It will be $40 well spent.

Now I know what I want for the 11th anniversary of my 39th birthday this year!

Kewl - I just downloaded the preview and FINALLY someone has made a CD that is more than just a paper book on a disc! I see this is “Volume One" and I hope Claire shows us some Lagerfeld Chanel’s in Volume Two; at this point he’s not exactly the new kid on the block and I as much as I admire her I wish Claire would move beyond Mademoiselle’s cannon.

Oh my! Unfortunately I can't see the preview as my computer is being a pain and I can only access the Win98 section of it which is incompatible with adobe 9... Anyway, my stripper name would be Trotsky Grove, which is probably the least strippingest name ever...

Hi, just noticed that you'd linked to my Chanel post; thanks! And sorry this project has been so delayed; Claire's just been too busy to nail down! But I'm optimistic that we'll be ready to go soon, like in the next month or 6 weeks…

Thanks for your interest!

Best,
David Coffin
